Tis the season to be crafty and connect agriculture and our homes. We were happy to host a wreath and ornament workshop on our farm in West Pullman, and from the number of people who attended, they loved it too!

The attendees came from all over Chicago and we were humbled that so many wanted to spend a brisk Saturday morning with us learning a new skill.

Our workshops were led by Sarah Batka, University of Illinois Local Food Systems and Small Farms Program Coordinator, Jade Williams and Cris Martinez of The Black Bloom Project. We entered the event tent to the smell of fresh pine and an array of paints to create unique ornaments to be cherished for years to come.

This project was supported by Together We Heal Creative Place Program and the Neighborhood Grants Initiative.

It was fun to see workshop attendees choose the perfect boughs to bunch together to put on their wreath forms, and to carefully choose paint colors that reflected the spirit of the holidays for them.

We look forward to hosting this annually, and want to make sure that you are aware of the class next year! We might be able to convince our workshop leaders to add a second one to the schedule!
